We’re always ready to help with scheduling, insurance or anything else you may need. We will take extra care to listen to your concerns, answer all your questions and thoroughly explain your condition and treatment options. Dr Johnson accepts most insurance plans, but not all. Please call us to verify whether or not we are participating with a particular insurance company.


He also has many patients who are self-pay patients without insurance coverage or who are on an insurance plan with which he is not contracted. If you have questions, please call our office at 512.346.6086 and we will be glad to help you. Our insurance reimbursement rate is dictated by the contracts we have signed with each insurance company and we are bound by these rates. However, per “Texas prompt pay law,” Dr. Johnson is allowed to offer a discounted fee to those patients who are not using insurance and who pay in full at the time of their visit, so please ask about this option. 

New Patient Check-In Information: 

We welcome all new patients to our practice and typically see several a day. To schedule an appointment, please call us at 512.346.6086 or use our online Request an Appointment form. We will make appointments and confirm requests for new patient appointments by phone call, at which time we will create an account in our computer system with your name, address, phone number, e-mail, date of birth and insurance information (if you have insurance). 

On the day of your first visit, we ask that you come to our office 20 to 30 minutes in advance to complete our In-Office Check- In registration on our Electronic PHREESIA Pad.  This is where you will enter your personal information and medical health history onto an interactive electronic pad which will then load into our computer system into your patient chart. No writing with pen and paper is ever needed. At this time, there is no information to enter online information prior to your visit, it’s all done in-office at the time of your first visit.


Following your initial visit, you should receive an e-mail notification of how to register and sign up with our office WebView account. As an established patient with Dr. Johnson, you will have an online WebView account with a secure password-protected patient portal to access your medical record and communicate by protected/recorded e-mail with our office.

Once your account is set up, you can conveniently access WebView by clicking on the Patient Login button on our website.

Cancellation Policy:

There is no fee to cancel most appointments; we simply ask that you notify us in advance so that we can reschedule your appointment at a more favorable time.

However, for annual physical appointments and minor surgical/dermatological appointments, we do require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice for cancellation. We hold a 30-minute time slot for these appointments at predesignated times of the day and have many patients needing these times. There will be a $25 charge when the courtesy of the above 24-hour notice to cancel is not provided for these specific types of appointments.

  • What are your goals?

    We strive to provide to all patients the full service of family medical practice through caring for the health of the body, mind and spirit. We provide quality medical care for the entire family from minor illnesses to ongoing medical problems requiring greater depth of treatments, minor procedures, preventive health services, wellness and outpatient care as well as coordinating inpatient care when necessary.

  • What is your business philosophy?

    Our business philosophy is based on one concept: achieving complete patient satisfaction and support.

  • Do you provide after-hours care?

    For a true emergency, ALWAYS call 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the closest emergency room. DO NOT call or leave a message with our office.

    If our office is closed and you believe your problem is of an urgent nature, you should go to an urgent care center or a minor emergency center or hospital ER, preferably one that will file with your insurance.

    If you are a Signature MD patient with an urgent problem, please call Dr Johnson on his cell phone number given to you upon your enrollment.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    There is no fee to cancel most appointments; we simply ask that you notify us in advance so that we can reschedule your appointment at a more favorable time.

  • How do I obtain a refill on my medications?

    Prescriptions are typically given during your office visits with enough refills to last until your next visit. In the event a refill is needed sooner, you should call your local pharmacy or mail-order pharmacy, who will then fax us the request for the refill. If no office visit is needed, i.e. no changes, adjustments, etc. to the prescription, then we try to save you a trip to the office and a copay. Instead, we charge a $12 administrative fee for the first prescription plus $2 for each additional Rx.

    Exceptions: Controlled prescriptions (i.e., ADD meds, other controlled meds, etc.) can be filled by calling the office two days before the date of the requested pick-up. If an office visit is not necessary (as determined by Dr. Johnson), Rxs will be written and a $15 fee (for one Rx) is due at the office at the time of pick-up. All account balances must be up-to-date, as well. Please ask about the State of Texas option allowing us to provide 90 days of ADD Rxs – three separate Rxs – one for each month – which must be turned in to to your chosen pharmacy to be held on “file” there for filling each month. This fee is $30 (for three Rxs) for 90 days of Rxs.

    If your insurance company requires a preauthorization for your medication, you have three options:

    1) Discuss other options with your pharmacist that do not require a preauthorization and the pharmacist can call or fax us to request a change.

    2) Make an appointment with Dr. Johnson so he can discuss the situation with you and your insurance to try to obtain approval. This office visit will require a copay.

    3) There is a $12 prior authorization fee to have Dr. Johnson call or fill out the necessary paperwork to attempt to try to obtain authorization. This is not and does not guarantee the insurance will approve the request.

  • How do I obtain my lab/radiology results?

    We will notify you of all lab and radiology results. There are two options by which our office communicates results to patients, both of which are HIPAA-compliant. If you ever do not receive results within two weeks, please call our office to inquire.

    Option 1 is your WebView account, which allows secure e-mail messaging of results. You will receive an email message from our office advising you to check your WebView account to view  lab results and radiology reports there. To utilize this option, you need to be registered with Webview. To learn more about this service and to register, see  “WebView”  information under the “For Patients” section.  Or call our office for help. Option 2 is a phone call from our medical assistant notifying you that results are being mailed to you. If there is an abnormal result, an appointment will be scheduled to follow-up with Dr. Johnson or one our PAs, Lisa or Erica.

  • Do you have an office financial, payment and collections policy?

    Obviously as a business, we must have policies in place for financial matters. However, we strive to be a patient-sensitive business and work with patients when we can.

    All balances are to be paid within 60 days. Acceptable forms of payment for services rendered are as follows: cash, personal check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Personal checks that are returned by the bank as nonpayable will result in a returned check fee of $35. If payment arrangements need to be made, speak with the office manager prior to any scheduled appointment. After 90 days, failure to remit payment on time and/or missing two consecutive months of a payment plan will result in transferring the account balance to a collection agency.

  • What exactly does “MD, PA” mean?

    In Texas, sole proprietor medical service providers can incorporate for business as a personal (or private) association (or corporation). Hence, the designation of “PA” (or “PC”) is added onto the professional designation: MD, PA.

  • What is a PA (physician assistant)?

    PAs are:

    Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

    Licensed, certified or registered in the state in which they practice

    Deliver a broad range of medical and surgical services, including:

    • Conducting physical exams

    • Obtaining medical histories

    • Diagnosing & treating illnesses

    • Prescribing medications

    • Ordering & interpreting tests

    • Counseling on preventive healthcare

    • Assisting in surgery
